SWEET & SPICY: ROOIBOS CINNAMON LATTE
Milk (any type, though non-dairy milks will not create as much “foam”)
3 Bags Numi Rooibos Chai
1.Brew a strong cup of tea. I use two extra tea bags and a bit less water than usual. The trick to a flavorful tea latte is in making a strong and sweet tea “concentrate” that won’t become watery and diluted when milk is added. Steep tea according to the directions for whatever tea blend you’re consuming. For Numi Rooibos Chai that’s 5-6 minutes.
2.Add sweetener. You can use sugar, maple syrup, or honey with great success. Depending on how much of a sweet tooth I have on a given day I’ll add anywhere from 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon of honey.
3.Crank up the spice. I like to add a few shakes of cinnamon to my chai tea brew to intensify the spicy flavor.
4.Add hot milk to your tea concentrate. Use a 1:1 ratio to ensure that the tea flavor stays strong. You can heat milk over the stove or in the microwave, just make sure that it only steams and doesn’t boil. Want that coffee-shop style foam on top of your latte? You don’t need a milk steamer or any fancy equipment! I simply heat milk in a small saucepan on low heat, stirring with the whisk attachment on my immersion blender until frothy and scalding hot. Note that this method works best with dairy milk, though you can achieve a slightly less impressive foam with coconut milk.
5.Garnish with a sprinkle of cinnamon & enjoy!
